I have been using Frommers for all my leisure travel-related needs for the last 16 years, and it is becoming increasingly apparent to me that they are resting on their laurels.Don't let the year fool you. I am beginning to think that Frommers merely takes the last year's edition and slap the newest year on it to justify purchasing the 'latest' edition.Instead you get clearly outdated, overhyped information. Frommers likes to put it out there that they are 'in the know' for the best experiences, but let me tell you firsthand they overpromise in the form of their descriptions.A few examples. The 'Bear Pits' of Bern. Strongly implying that they have been at the same location for "[hundreds] of years" in the same location. "Be sure to bring a bag of carrots to feed them". Uh, WRONG. The so-called pits looks like a zoo exhibit on a hillside, complete with concrete caves, barriers, etc. In fact, when you go into Bern, you learn quickly that it has moved several times, along with the times. Oh, and forget those carrots. Total fabrication. You are not allowed to feed them.The clock tower in Bern is a bust. Save yourself travel fare and google a picture of it. The great show that is promised is a bust as well.I could go on and on about other places, such as their descriptions of Zurich, Lucerne and such. Don't get me wrong, they are fabulous cities in their own right, each with their own individual character.It's just that I consider it a complete betrayal of trust when you put out an outdated edition, resting on your laurels and never following up to see if you are current.Beware. This book is a piece of junk.
Used this book to help plan a trip to Australia --- only kidding, just seeing if you are paying attention! I had never been to Switzerland and needed to come up with a vacation plan. Frommer's was a good start as they give you a great overview of all areas. Sometimes I wondered if the businesses thay recommend had paid them as I found other establisments to be better than the ones recommended. Overall - it's a good place to start.

What I expected.
Frommer is always a good guide. I haven't actually finished it yet as I'm not traveling until August. Still, it was useful in deciding where we want to spend more time on our itinerary.
This was a gift to friends who are traveling to Switzerland for the first time.....perfect travel companion! And a great gift!
This is the only book I bought for my trip to Switzerland, and I was able to get by very well with it. I visted Zurich, Lucerne, Lugano, Bern, Interlaken, Zermatt, Montreaux, Lausanne, and Geneva, and found the book to have all the information I needed for each city.The format is easy to use, with listings of hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, bars, nightclubs, etc., for each city, and the book includes info on virtually every city and town in Switzerland that a tourist could want to see. For major cities, the book even has maps showing where hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions are located, as well as more detailed maps of proposed "walking tours."There are no photos of Switzerland in this book, except on the front and back cover. Although the lack of photos doesn't bother me, if you want photos of Switzerland in your guide book, I would suggest the DK Eyewitness guide.
I purchased a copy of this book to help with my summer research internship in Switzerland in 2001, and found it to be less useful than the Rough Guides.The Fromer book is written as a fairly terse reference book, listing a few restaurants, hotels of various price ranges, and not much else for the different cities. Sure, there are listings of attractions for the different cities, but the way they are presented is not very helpful to plan trips. On the other hand, the Rough Guides have suggestions on things to do for the different places.So all in all, it depends on your style of planning but I feel that this book is more suited to business travelers.

I love this book, series and author. This was a great book and I had a hard time getting to sleep because I could not quit reading. I highly recommend this book, series and author.

When I see Kit Morgan's name on a book cover I have certain expectations and this book delivered those. Of course I expect a romance, a beautiful woman, a handsome gallant man and humor, all told with a story line with a twist. If you are a fan of the Cowboys and Angels series Atticus will be an old friend, Persephone is the new face. I totally enjoyed this story and am sorry it appears they will be leaving Creede.
All of Kit Morgan’s books are a joy to spend time in with little nuggets of wisdom that fill your pockets along the way. Enjoy 💜
Persephone travels to Creede with her father to help her cousin Hattie White for the rest of her pregnancy and birth of her first child. Atticus comes to apologize to Cooper and Hattie about his part in a crazed man's bid to get Hattie to marry him by any means-- including setting fire to a house with Cooper in it. After realizing Hattie didn't want to go, he helped them, and the man was now in prison. But Atticus still needed to apologize. And he met Persephone. At first afraid of him, she quickly got over it, becoming interested. Her father, seeing the attraction, throws the names of horrid suitors at her, stating she MUST have a society marriage, and soon. Atticus and Persephone fall in love anyway, until her father's interfering has Atticus leaving town. For good. Persephone's angel has her work cut out for her now.
This story is the best of two worlds, Cutters Creek meets Creede! I loved it! This is one of my favorite series.
Thank you, Kit Morgan. This book is great, sweet, and lots of fun. Atticus and Persephone were perfect, and I loved hearing about Cutter's Creek. Always.

Great content for those who like process. Horrible binding. My return window has closed, but I am going to shake the tree on this one. Only a few months old, have only read about half of it and it's literally falling apart. Shameful.
So far, I am enjoying About Face. It’s a great book - well written and packed with useful information.A voluminous paperback version is available, but I prefer reading online, so I started reading the digital version. After a few launches, I noticed that all three Kindle apps - for iPad Pro, iPad Mini, and iPhone - launched the app and immediately crashed.At this point, I can no longer read the book online. I have removed the app files and am reading on the Amazon site.After I finish reading the book, I will contribute a full review. In the meantime, I hope that someone can fix the issue.
I love the material in the book but the pages are falling out. I'm holding the book together with binder clips. I've only read up through chapter 4 and there are 21 chapters. They don't make binder clips big enough! Am I going to need to glue it?5/5 for content0/5 for binding
This is a must have for all UX designers Product Managers, Project Managers, Managers, Digital Designers, Designers... The print edition looks overwhelming from the outset by it's physical appearance (Big) however once embarking on the reading adventure you will be pleasantly surprised at how digestible it is and for me entertaining. Lots of ah ha moments, highlighting and taking notes along the way. I have given my print copy of the last edition to a friend and I'm enjoying the new Kindle edition. Here is a blue print for a truly user centered approach. @creativUXdesign

This book gets five stars for the content. Unfortunately, a sticky note has more glue than the binding of this book. The first time I opend it the pages immediately started detaching from the spine. For a text book style book I found this very disappointing.

John Byrne is one of the greatest artists in the comic industry. Honestly, I like She-Hulk when on the cover of issue #1 and she says "buy this comic or I'll rip up your X-Men." That has to be one of the top 10 covers ever made. I like the book overall. It's well done with a good sense of humor. The book definitely has a late 80s feel. John's at the top of his game and the art is great. I knocked off a star because John's an artist and not a great writer; some of that comes though in lumps. Still it's a blast from the past and enjoyable. This comic was made when Marvel Comics was great.
This is my very favorite She-Hulk series. I should preface that by saying I loved comic books where the main character is aware that they are in a comic book. If you don't like that sort of thing, then skip this book; it's not for you. If you're like me and your taste in comic books run more toward HERBIE than SUPERMAN, then check this one out. It's a blast. Byrne has fun with the story, and the illustrations are excellent. The character has always trod a thin line between sexist boy fantasy and parody, but Byrne finds the right balance here. Lots of fun.
I wasn't even reading yet when She Hulk was still in her 'Savage' series. (Essential Savage She-Hulk, Vol. 1 (Marvel Essentials) (v. 1)) I learned of her through the Marvel Comic cards that were out at that time, and was intrigued because I loved the 'Orion' women from Star Trek. LOL And so John Byrne's darn near revolutionary run of She Hulk comics was my introduction to the Emerald Amazon, (AKA Green Goddess, AKA Shulkie, AKA Emerald Glamazon... You get the picture. LOL) I found it to be a fresh and exciting spin on the way comics were normally done, with She Hulk 'including' readers into the adventure by 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' and speaking directly to us. My twelve year old brain delighted at the idea, and so a life long She Hulk fan was born... And that, folks, was more than two decades ago. And gleefully pre-ordering this book the moment I first saw it got me in that nostalgic mood. But NOTHING brought it home like picking it up and seeing those adventures again. Yes, the book feels dated because we're used to MUCH more detailed art in this modern day. But it also feels fresh and creative, even all these years later. The adventures are a throw back to when comics really were called 'Funny Books', and these are certainly funny. John Byrne did a great job both as story teller, AND as penciler, and I LOVED reading these again. He paved the way for the She Hulk of today, so much so that even in one of her newer more 'serious' books, she once 'Broke The Fourth Wall' as nice little inside nudge to her old fans. This book is funny, delightful, and absolutely made my heart strings tug for that innocent kid who still wishes he had all those comic books from 20 years ago. LOL But new readers, provided they can keep an open mind at the art from yester year, will find a delightful series of stories here, and a lot of laughs too. If you're a fan of today's She Hulk, then give this a try and learn what made her the 'Marvel' she is now. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thanks so much for your time folks. Sincerely, R.A. I have these issues in my collection. Loved all the humor and of She-Hulk knowing she is in a comic book. I love that Byrne brought back less known characters like the Blonde Phantom and the crew from the U S 1 series.
The She Hulk titles deserve better recognition. Unlike many other female superheroes, this title stands on its own merits. Perhaps only Spider-Man can offer the same mix of self aware humour and super charged action.
I enjoyed it. A fun read. It's got plenty to read through too so it helps to pass the time in an entertaining way.
This is a highly enjoyable series that I remember fondly. It was written with much of the same off the wall humor as Justice League International. If you like your super heroes with a touch of Mel Brooks or Monty Python, please check out this collection. Mine was a bit overpriced but I really did enjoy it.
It was a purchased to replace my early she-hulks that were damaged in a flood :S so I knew what I was in for which is a real fun book. I just wish the coloring on the cover was better...

The monkeys snatch up her tea basket and disappear up into the mountain mists, returning with a basketful of nearly glowing tea. When the Royal Tea Taster appears, he nearly swoons over the rare tea in Tashi’s basket and pays her handsomely for the bounty. Sitting down for a morning cup of tea with my husband, I began to open the latest package from Amazon to share with him. "Not more books!" he sighed. I had ordered this one because of its Juan Wijngaard illustrations. Our family has nearly read to pieces our copies of his Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Sir Gawain and the Loathly Lady, so I knew that Cloud Tea Monkeys would be visually exquisite. What I didn't expect was a text that was exquisite as well. Mal Peet and Elspeth Graham know how to "show not tell":"The sun had not yet found a way through the mountains, but it was coming; a light the color of lemons was soaking into the sky and painting out the stars.""The overseer laughed an ugly laugh full of brown teeth.""His mustache was like a spread of snowy wings.""Then from under the cloth there came a good deal of sniffing and snuffling: short shallow snuffles and then some long deep sniffs and then the kind of gasping that comes before a sneeze. Then another, longer silence. A hand came out from under the cloth. The fingers clicked again....When Tashi saw his face, the Royal Tea Taster no longer looked stern; he looked like a man who had seen an angel."We read on. As I finished the story, my husband dabbed his eyes with his napkin,"It's OK, you can keep ordering books."
Our family has read and re-read this book many times. Most recently I took it to a 3rd grade class to read aloud. The children all loved the story and it was new to most of them. It's a tale of love, magic, and has a happy ending with no major horrors along the way. Lovely prose and beautifully illustrated.
This book deserves to get a lot more attention. It is one of those children's books that may be remembered into adulthood. The basic plot is easy for young readers to follow, but within the deeper layers and greater complexity, there are themes of class, poverty, kindness, women's working conditions/equality, unlikely heroism, the value and capability of animals, and a touch of magic. My son and I both declared Cloud Tea Monkeys as a "very special book" upon first read, and cannot wait to read it again and again.
This is a beautifully illustrated book with a long but well told tale. It has a touch of magic, a big helping of multicultural exposure, and captivating artwork on every page.When I finished reading it to my daughters for the first time, the four and a half year old immediately took the book from my hands and started turning the pages herself, reviewing the full color pictures. "I liked this book" she said solemnly. Me too.It's worth getting your hands on.

Beautifully illustrated. Wonderful story about sharing and kindness and how life rewards such actions. Good for primary school ages.
