I like to do a lot of research when getting into new types of cooking and found this cookbook to be a great reference for making hot sauces.I bought the Kindle version and will probably buy the paperback version now that I've had a chance to read the book as paging through this type of book on a Kindle is tedious at best. Formatting for the Kindle was done well and I didn't see any obvious problems with the formatting.Instructions for making the hot sauce are clear and easy to follow plus the author uses easy to find ingredients for the most part. A trip to you local Asian or Mexican market may be required for a couple of the recipes.If I have one complaint it's that the book was written before the super hot chiles became easy to find so there are no recipes for making hot sauce with the really hot peppers like ghost and scorpions.Overall, this is a good starter book for your cookbook library.
I like the fact that this book is 100% complete in the information it gives. It tells you how to handle peppers, ie: don't touch your eyes, nose, etc., how & in what kind of containers to store them in, all the many ways to prep peppers, ie: toast, blend, char, etc. They even go over the Christopher Columbus-esque history of the names & locales from which so many varieties of peppers originate. I liked the chart which listed the peppers by name in order of spiciness. It’s a good reference to know what exactly one is getting into with a new pepper. The overall organization of the book was easy to follow since recipes are grouped by region of origin, ie; South America, Louisiana, Asia, etc. There are a decent amount of recipes within each flavor range to keep things interesting. Recipes include not only hot sauces, but also cocktails, full meals & side dishes. My fave so far is the Curried Cauliflower (Asian dish), who knew cauliflower could be so good! As a lover of the spicier tastes in life, I happily recommend this cookbook.
This is a pretty basic book and contains no information I didn't already know on peppers nor any recipes I found particularly interesting. But we are a family who loves hot peppers, and we grow them and make our own sauces and salsa every year. If you are new to cooking with peppers or making hot sauce, you'll probably find this useful. If you are an experienced chile-phile, you won't find anything new here, and I would recommend you keep searching for a better book.
The cover of this book is beautiful, and chiles are so colorful, I would have thought there would be at least a few pictures...but the book is only $5.99, so I guess that makes sense.This book has a great intro on chiles around the world, and my favorite part is the descriptions of each chile, fresh and dried. The descriptions are very helpful and the charts with the scoville unit scale are very helpful. The intro also goes over what constitutes a hot sauce, and what cooking utensils you'll need including nonreactive cookwear and rubber spatulas. Lastly, there are 10 tips for making hot sauce that I found to be very valuable in getting started.The book contains chapters on Latin American, Louisiana style, Asian, West Indies/Caribbean, and "Beyond" hot sauces. First are the Latin-American hot sauces, most of which look great! Of particular interest were the Citrus Chipotle, Pastor salsa with Pineapple, and the Linzano style Costa Rican salsa, which is like a hot steak sauce. The Louisiana Hot Sauce chapter is pretty straightforward, but I'd love to try and make a good homemade version of Frank's, and there is an interesting New Orleans spicy bbq sauce and a spicy cocktail sauce that look a bit different. The next chapter is on Asian sauces, which includes a sriracha recipe I can't wait to try and make.All in all, I can't wait to try to make more of these hot sauces!

I normally don't like spicy foods but I have been exploring. This book is a great way to help me do that because I learned so much in reading the first 3 chapters.I learned all about the history of chilies and peppers. More importantly, I learned which peppers are really hot and what is safe for me to start eating without KILLING MY TASTE BUDS. LOLThe recipes that are included in this book are wonderful. First things first, I didn't expect to find little recipes for foods to eat the hot sauces with. That was awesome. The ease of creating some of these hot sauces is great. I liked that they are grouped by region and I LOVED that there were suggestions about complimentary flavors to cook with.All in all, this is a great book for those that are new to the kitchen, experienced or just love hot sauce or want to do something different. The formatting of this book is excellent and the suggestions are just as useful. I would recommend this book to anyone and I know I will get a lot of use from mine. Excellent book. Although I got the book for free, it's worth the purchase price.

The physical book is of high standard. The layout makes good use of color marks for better orientation, as did "Characters" before. There is an index and a small glossary for the terms used. The artwork is good, but not exceptional (as if I'd care for an artbook :)) and in color. Layout and printing are clear and well ordered, as in the basic books.First off, the book is an expansion on the Basic Characters book and not very useful without it. This is stated on the cover, but they really mean it with this book. There are many references to it, especially in chapter 2 (building powers). I don't expect people without the basic set to buy it, but I like to mention it.I found the book a complex but interesting read. I'd say you need to have a working knowledge of the basic books to make the most of it. My own is somewhat lacking, so I needed quite some time to find how some things are supposed to work. The book allows to build theoretically all (or most) of the various superpowers shown in comics, but it is sometimes not easy to find the starting point (due to my limited knowledge of the Advantages). The examples are pretty helpful in that regard.For those who are going to play GURPS for keeps, I'd say it should almost be part of the core-rules. It is not only useful to represent super powers, but can handle several other genres as well. There is also stuff in it useful for other gaming systems because they deal with general ideas, like what powers/effects are plot-stoppers and need to be taken into account, and the various genre/campaign types.
I got this book because my play group and I really like high powered games. To the tune of several thousand points per character. Of course this book can do more than help you make the most uber awesome godly... ect ect ect. Its strong point is actually its ability to help you build poweres or to adjust them accordingly.If you like a game that is out of the "NORM" then I do really think this is the book for you.

Instead It is a full Powers tool box. Most of the powers are already found in the core book characters. This book tells you how to fine tune them. Not just what is your power, but also how does it work and what is its source.A lot of info for fine tuning your setting too. I count this book as one of my GURPS 4E core books.

If you purchased the hands on lab course Learning The Art of Electronics (pub 2016) and want to do all the labs, you will find a very time consuming and tedious task of ordering the parts as there are over 135 distinct part numbers from 9 suppliers. Luckily, at the EEVblog forum, BobsURuncle posted Excel spreadsheets with all the parts organized in a format where they can be uploaded into the parts distributors shopping carts. This will save you hours of your time. Search for "Learning The Art Of Electronics - Parts BOM".
Helpful book for those that might be struggling with some of the content found inside AoE, e.g., beginners, hobbyists, new students, etc. Much improved and expanded since the earlier "student manual" format. Readers will have the opportunity to learn about and build many interesting circuits (assuming they purchase the necessary parts). Like AoE it quickly jumps into conceptualizing circuits from a Thevenin perspective and soon after hops to RC circuits i.e., frequency sensitive voltage dividers, filters, etc. Which is fine for some beginners. But, beginners, hobbyists, etc., that might need a little more mathematical/conceptual hand-holding before jumping headlong into Thevenin equivalence talk, etc., might consider checking out books by Paynter, e.g., Electronics Technology Fundamentals first, Practical Electronics for Inventors second, and then circling back around to this one and AoE.The one major fail would be the significant number of typos, reference errors, etc., liberally sprinkled throughout the book. Readers will need to check out the Errata list on the author's webpage. The book reads like one that was never read by an decent editor. It's quite challenging to see where any publisher editing was done. Readers and purchasers should be able to expect much more from academic book publishers...but alas...it looks like some of them are giving up when it comes to the MOST BASIC form of book publishing quality control i.e., actually reading the book and checking for obvious typos/errata before publishing and sending it out to the masses.Essentially, the book's content is great and will likely be helpful to many. Thumbs up and three stars to the author, he's done a great public and educational service. But, anyone purchasing it will need to carefully review the book's Errata page and make the numerous typo, etc., corrections. i.e., do the work the editors were paid for but clearly didn't do. Thumbs down and minus two stars to the editors/publisher.
I purchased this book thinking I would be able to go through the labs one at a time to get a better hands-on understanding of electronics. I have taken a few undergraduate electronics classes where I learned the basics of electronics and got some experience working with breadboards and components in the lab sections. I have also worked through a few examples in the Make books on electronics. I am not an absolute beginner, and this book was very difficult for me. The format is confusing and the author’s writing style is difficult to follow, the labs aren’t clear, and there are many mistakes in the text. This book may be great if you have someone to walk you through, but it is not for beginners who are trying to learn electronics by themselves.Each chapter is broken up into four parts: an introduction (N), lab (L), supplementary section (S), and worked example section (W). So the first thing you need to learn is how to get around the book. It sounds silly, but it adds to the frustration of already trying to learn a difficult subject. When you compound the other flaws then having a confusing layout that is difficult to navigate doesn’t help.The author’s writing style is very odd for a book seemingly aimed at beginners. I have spent more time trying to decipher what the author is asking me to do instead of working on anything hands-on. The book assumes you have skills and knowledge that it does not teach you. The book is funny because the author frames it to being an almost rebellious way to learn electronics with "rules of thumb and reliable 'tricks'' allowing you to "leave the calculator-bound novice engineer in the dust" but then the text is so confusing that you end up not understanding the original concept nor the rules of thumb. The book talks about subjects I even studied before and it goes over my head.The instructions for the labs are difficult to understand. There isn't a breakdown of which parts and tools you need at the beginning of each chapter, so it is confusing. The chapters jump right in and start referring to parts they assume you already have. I think there is a list available on another website that shows the parts needed, but I don’t get why there isn’t a short summary right at the beginning of each lab like in most other LAB books. The book is packed with information, but I still don’t believe the excuse that there wasn’t enough room to include a short list. The instructions, drawings, and goals of the labs should be clear: This is what you will learn, this is what you need this is what you need to do, review. This book doesn’t seem like it was meant to stand alone.As other reviewers said, the book is also full of typos and obvious errors beginning with the first chapter, so you must refer to another secondary document to make sure you aren't memorizing/learning the wrong information.I think this book is more for someone taking a course with a professor there to guide them through it than something a beginner will be able to pick up and be able to complete without the help of other reference books or tutors. I thought it could function as a stand-alone book, but I was mistaken. I'm not sure who is giving these 5-star reviews, but I'm guessing that they are engineers who are already familiar with the material. It probably makes great sense to someone who already mastered the topics covered in the book, but it is practically of no use even to someone who is eager to learn the subject and has some experience building and testing circuits.I've probably had to take 5-6 electronics classes in which I've received all A's, and this book made me feel like I didn't know a thing about electronics. If you are just starting out and trying to learn by yourself, I would recommend you start with another book. If you have access to a professor or tutor or you can take part in a class that walks you through the labs, I'm sure this book is fantastic.
I wish this would have been the text book when I was in college! You can actually sit and read it for pleasure and after 40 years in electronics I haven't found many like that.Expensive but quality is and it is well worth it.

I bought this eBook for two reasons... #1: I have an interest in furthering my Amazon business and #2: I saw the high reviews for this eBook and the high remarks for this authors work... I'm fairly disappointed in what I got out of this eBook.It's in no way worth the amount that is being charged. Like another reviewer pointed out, at the end of this eBook you'll have more questions than answers. I re-read it twice hoping it would just click, but it didn't... and that's coming from someone who's been involved with selling and buying on eBay since the very beginning.The methods to buying low on eBay are good in theory... but are way easier said then done. Mainly because there are so many people already following these methods that it's tough to get a good enough deal to flip on Amazon for a decent enough profit.While I badly wanted to learn something new. B.L.E.S.H.A didn't live up to the hype for me.
I never write reviews. In fact, this is my very first amazon review as I feel so strongly in my opinions about this book.As some other reviewers have pointed out, this book is lacking a lot of substance. The author mentions things that most anyone who is familiar with buying and selling on ebay already knows (which auctions to watch based on ending times, which auctions to look for, and to wait until the end of the auction to place a bid). This is all information that is known and can be easily found online. What the author doesn't share is a gameplan, how to go about EASILY finding such auctions when everyone else is doing the same thing. Everything in this book is easier said than done. There are not enough worthwhile and valuable resources in this book.This author is not interested in sharing information. This author is only interested in charging lots of money for useless information. Save your money. There are more useful resources elsewhere for much less money put out by authors who truly care and want to share their knowledge with others. This is NOT the case here.

This book really should sell for $2.99. The basic information is very good. But there is too much fall-back on websites for additional info. The author should have said more in the book. It was just too short for the price.However. To repeat, the basic idea is very good. Am looking for a way to make money on the Internet. Had never thought of B.L.e.S.H.a. Very sound way to make money. Don't expect it to happen overnight. But will give it my best shot.
What an eye-opening book! I learned so many new tricks for sourcing on eBay (like searching by pictures and I've been an eBay seller for 11 years. The style is easy to follow and really holds ones attention. With so many books out there on eBay, it's hard to separate them. This one is a HUGE winner and a valuable tool for anyone selling on Amazon or just looking for bargains!

For .99 cents you cant go wrong! Some useful tips but I would have been disappointed had a paid the full price. I read all these books and this book does have some self promoting and at times became a maze of go here and there, but again useful information for many. I do like all my information in the the book I buy to stay within, and chasing down video is not my style. The author is a veteran seller and his information although useful will require time and energy. I'm doubtful you will spend as little time employing his methods as he suggests. As a veteran power seller on ebay and one who sells occassionaly on Amazon I found this book fell short of my expectations. A short read with a few tips for the rookies seller and even a few for a veteran like me so the book is worth your consideration. Wait for his book sales for his other titles as I would suspect you might be over paying at the full prices?, but I will try to have an open mind and will follow this author's work.
Very basic and straight forward. I can understand the what and why of things that I couldn't before. He explains very well. I have read other very good books on Amazon And eBay but most of the time over my head.

I’ve become nicely acquainted with samurai culture through books and film over the years and have heard about Christianity in early (well, at least, earlier) Japan. So as soon as I learned of this ChristFic novel's existence, it went straight to my TBR list.I must say, the Prologue got me especially pumped. Although I didn’t get quite as pumped about the story again until the last third or fourth of it, it was worth reading and waiting for. I wasn’t exactly wild about the two leading characters at first, who seem to be a mutual mix of much blushing and shrinking away and bouts of naiveté, and I didn’t get a convincing sense of chemistry between them. But they do get their moments to stand up and show some fire, and in due time, they both grew on me.I found much of the narration to be somewhat stilted or simplistic, the development to be a bit choppy in places, and missing quotation marks occasionally disturb the flow between the narration and dialogue. But the story maintains a keen sense of its historical setting throughout the read, and the intrigue eventually took me from being interested to being enthralled.I’m keeping my eyes peeled for the next book in this series.
I found myself able to connect to the character Sen quite quickly and as her story unfolded I couldn't help but to root for her throughout. I also loved how the author was able to weave in elements of Christianity and faith without sounding preachy and the use of religion and beliefs benefited the story in my opinion.With this being a historical piece I appreciated the attention to detail and the authors skillful way of explaining terminology in the story without oversimplifying and over explaining things. Nobohiro and his brothers were easy to connect with as well and the tension in the father son relationship was very believable.I also was not prepared for the betrayal that ended up happening and I am usually able to guess those types of things fairly quickly. If you like historical fiction then pick this book up or download it and enjoy.I did read this after I selected it and it was chosen for publication by kindle scout.
The Samurai's Heart is an excellent story that has two main characters, one apprentice swordsmith from a samurai family, and one Christian woman from a swordsmith family. There are a number of other important characters, both from their families and outside.Through the story, the character development is excellent. Most changes happen gradually and logically. Some changes felt sudden, but they were actually long-term changes that simply weren't obvious.There are so many great things about the story, I couldn't list one favourite. There are many layers that are all expertly woven together. It never seems too complex or too simple, and there's always multiple ways of thinking about the same thing. It helps if you have an idea about the way of the samurai before starting this story, else some concepts might not make sense (especially that of ritual suicide, and the 'death before dishonour' mindset).The pace of the story is great. It's steady, with moments of high action or high emotion. The story never felt boring; even when little was happening, we were still learning about the setting or the characters. The descriptions were good, without being too detailed.The story is emotional in places, and that's a strength of the writing. The story really made me feel for the characters and get to know them. Some events are foreshadowed, if you look closely enough. If you just want to be along for the ride, you won't be left behind. The plot twists make sense, and almost everything is tied up. One thing is left open, though I certainly won't spoil it for anyone!Overall, I highly recommend this story. It's one of the very best I've read in the last few years and I'll buy the next books as soon as they're out.Content warning: This story doesn't contain foul language. The only mild warning is about religion. As the blurb details, this is a book with samurai and Christianity. If you don't like reading about any religions, this story isn't for you.
Writing a historical novel can be a challenge. You want to include enough detail to make the setting and characters reflect the period without bogging down the story with too many details. I found only a few instances in this novel where my attention waned with the details, where bits of dialog felt like mini info dumps. For the most part, the culture and happens of the time were mixed into the story with diligent detail. It was a pleasure reading the story and learning a little about a culture I'm not very familiar with. The romance adds to making the story endearing, without being overwhelming.I received a copy of this book through the Kindle Scout program.
Okay, so Walt Mussell's THE SAMURAI'S HEART, is one of those novels that is super-hard to properly categorize. It is one part Christian historical, one part adventure, one part romance and one part Kurosawa movie. At the heart of it, the novel is Sen's story, but the battle scene between Nobuhiro and the archer was very gripping.Holy snapping boar snouts!!!I earned this book by nominating it as part of a Kindle Scout program. It was a bit of a no-brainer for me. I was really excited to see a Kindle Scout novel dealing with the samurai tradition. Besides that, I am cheap and when I saw this novel listed in a Kindle Scout campaign I was very certain that the author, Walt Mussell, had got himself a winning entry.As you see, I was not wrong.In fact, I am NEVER wrong, as I often tell my wife. Mind you, I am often somewhat incorrect, and occasionally misguided, and sometimes I am completely off the mark - but I am never rong.Err...I mean wrong. Rose-Lynn Fisher is an artist and author of the International Photography Award-winning studies Bee and The Topography of Tears. Her photographs are exhibited in galleries, festivals, and museums across the world, including the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Museum of Science Boston, Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History, and Craig Krull Gallery, Santa Monica. They have also been featured by the Dr. Oz Show, NPR, Smithsonian, Harper’s, New Yorker, Time, Wired, Reader’s Digest, Discover, Brain Pickings, and elsewhere. She received her BFA from Otis Art Institute and lives in Los Angeles.

The Topography of Tears gives us entry into a secret and ineffable world we inhabit but never actually see. Fisher's brilliant images and the poetry of her titles capture the nuances of human feeling is subtle, fascinating ways. I find myself going back and back to these images and words that "map" the experiences of the heart in such great variety. A wonderful book indeed.
This is a gorgeous book with remarkable images of human tears seen through a microscope. Some have crystallized into snowflake-like abstractions, some look like aerial photographs, and all of them are evocative. Paired with Fisher's poetic titles, the works are far more than meets the eye.
Excellent book. Sparse text with with the photos that would leave me puzzled. I have been a nurse a long time, and the subject of tears came up in a Bible study. I read a book on the subject of tears in the Bible, and this book at the same time. (I would classify this book as being neutral, there is noreligious overtones) It was revelatory and fascinating to see how different our tears look under a high powered microscope
Where else can you find pictures of tears? As a therapist, this is useful to share with clients, to demonstrate the importance of and purpose of tears.
A beautiful first step into the exploration of tears.
I enjoyed the most information on tears; however, I liked the least that the pictures were not in color.
How can öne describe the beauty and delicacy of this world ! Thank you for opening another gate to know ourselves as human beings...
