The Hookup Handbook by Kendall Ryan was such an outstanding book! I had so much fun reading this. It was seXXXy and sweet with small bursts of humor to break up the scenes that got a little more angsty. Although I wouldn’t categorize this one as an angsty read at all. Instead, it’s easy to jump into and before you know it you’ve read the whole book in one sitting… or that might be just me.😉Kendall Ryan is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author with more than two dozen titles in her catalogue. I’ve had the pleasure of reading this author before and have always enjoyed the stories I read. I find her books well written and since the books—the ones I’ve read anyway—always show that attention to editing has been paid, I love to jump into Kendall Ryan’s stories. The Hookup Handbook is the second book in the Escort, Inc series and can be read as a complete standalone. (Full Discloser: I haven’t read the first book and had absolutely zero difficulty following this story.) It’s a dual POV, best friend's little sister, office romance with a fresh plot and characters which I thoroughly enjoyed. Case owns his own male escort business and when tasked by his best friend to find a job for his little sister, Case hires her to help him write the ultimate handbook for guys. While their start is rocky, Case quickly realizes he wants to keep Sierra around—and not just for the short term! For more than that, you need to read the book! 😊 Both primary characters—Case and Sierra—will win you over quickly. Initially, Case is a bit of an a$$hole, but with his… uhm, problem… I can understand his frustrations and how overwhelmed he was until Sierra stepped in, filling a gap he didn’t even know he had. Sierra and her brother, Ryder, come from a privileged background but are very down to earth and while I expected her to be entitled, she was not. Nor was Case what I expected of a male escort. These characters were thoughtfully written and will surprise you repeatedly much like they did me! I loved the forbidden nature of their relationship. The Hookup Handbook is SEXXY! Seriously I found it hot, but then again, I usually do when it comes to Kendall Ryan’s romances. The Hookup Handbook was an engaging and entertaining read for sure and my review of 4.5-star reflects my enjoyment of Kendall Ryan’s latest release. I’m soooo looking forward to reading Kendall Ryan’s next release and crossing my fingers to go back and read Boyfriend for Hire, the first book in the Escort, Inc series soon.
This was an ok read for me but nothing special. I love this author but I feel I don’t always love every aspect of every story.Case was simply not a favorite for me. The guy was all over the place. He goes back and forth and hot and cold.So he goes from this...“I just want to be sure you know this is a one-time deal. We’re not having repeat offenses this summer, understood?â€So naturally she tries to play it his way and hide her growing feelings for him because he’s never once given her any indication he wants more with her.So then he goes to this...“Her laughing when I told her not to fall in love with me, only confirm what I’ve always been worried about. Being in this profession means no woman could ever fall in love with me.I hated they slept together for weeks and neither of them tell her brother or open up to each other to say they want more. Not until they are caught and it’s too late. I want a man who goes after what he wants and to hell with anyone or anything else. That wasn’t Case. He loved having sex with Sienna but never felt her worth the risk to come clean with his feelings until she walks away.I will say the ending is pretty good and their Epilogue was awesome too. I think maybe this series just isn’t for me but I would still read future books by this author.
One of my favorite Kendall Ryan books so far! Top 5 easily!I absolutely love Case & Sienna!!Case, wealthy playboy needs help to finish his how-to hookup handbook hires his best friends little sister to keep him on track, and assist with his time management. Slowly but surely, he develops feelings for Sienna, and their relationship takes off in a spiral of hot fiery passionate sex, and drama and angst!Its crazy but, I would totally read the hookup handbook if it was a real book!This book delivers, so many emotions felt, so much sexual tension, and a few good laughs (you'll know which part I mean!). I loved how the previous character tie in was short sweet and just enough of a glimpse into Nic's life that I got what I needed but didnt get rewrapped up in him. Because, Case is so swoon worthy, so sweet, and I wanted him to have all my attention 😂😂. I need more Case!Do yourself a favor, and just buy the book already!

I picked this up based on a recommendation from a work colleague and I don't understand why he recommended it. I found this difficult to read due to poor choice of vocabulary and lack of logical message structure. I found too many sections to be about introductory Agile concepts rather than specialised Data Warehouse / BI issues so I ended up spending a lot of time skimming.Formatting for the Kindle was very poor and many figures are not understandable.There are also a number of cutesy acronyms based on Ceregenic's specific approach that I just found distracting.I have a very strong suspicion that the interesting parts of this book could be better communicated as tightly copy-edited articles or blog posts. Nothing really came out to me as particularly insightful but given that I drifted into skimming, I may possibly have missed something buried in the noise.
The author is the best I have encountered for the difficult subject of how to apply agile techniques to data warehousing.
I found this book lacking in content. Too many pages addressing the issues of traditional methodologies and a limited adaptation of generic agile practices to business intelligence / data warehousing.Topics such as project automation, which is key to deliver agility, are not covered with the proper depth. Version Control, Software Configuration Management, (even partially) automated deployments or testing are barely discussed.
I had high hopes that this book would clearly explain how to implement a BI solution using scrum. I expected it to contain some tangible examples both of Scrum and BI increments built using Scrum. There are many simple and tangible explanations of Scrum available on the web that do not take 300 pages. I did not find this book useful.First, I found the organization of the book hard to follow. Second, I found the explanations to be simply a verbose run-of-the-mill explanation of Scrum. In fact, I found them confusing at times. Frankly, I get tired of reading Scrum stuff in which there is a continuous exaltation of Scrum and a repetitious denigration of anything that is not Scrum. Not everything in the world that isn't Scrum is BDUF (big design up front); nor do other ways always take forever. Third, there was little tangible description either BI or data warehousing in the book. However, my biggest objection is that there are almost no examples. The one data model example (of an ORDERS data model on page 129) has several problems: 1. it is a generic model. Would someone be actually implementing this data model in a BI environment using Scrum or anything else for that matter? Why would you even need Scrum to come up with this model? On close examination, is the model meaningful and correct? Is the relationship between Order, Party, Party Role and Party Role Type necessary? Is is even correct? If an order can have only one party, how many roles can they possibly be playing? Since an Order has only one Party, but a Party can have many Party Relationships, which Party Relationships are relevant to the Order? This example is near useless. Also, the book does not refer to integrated sandboxing, which would be essential for rapid turnaround of Scrum increments. After years of data warehousing I have found that there are a few simple but essential principles to achieving success at it, 1. break the work into increments; 2. make the increments short (1-3 months); 3. timebox the work; 4. deliver a prototype early (thus the need for sandboxing); and 5. gather a small, cross-functional team.The author advocates presenting a tiered model. Well, some modelers occasionally do that but most professional modelers do not. A model should be presented in whatever way will be most useful and understandable to the audience. It is still not a typical informational model and I don't see what the data model, tiered or not, adds to the discussion of BI with Scrum.If you are looking for a tangible way to do BI with Scrum, I would not recommend this book. If you are looking for a good description of Scrum, you can easily Google it and get a good understanding of it in no time.

I found this to be an outstanding, insightful guide for adopting Agile/Scrum methodology to Data Warehouse projects. Mr. Hughes' book takes the reader through the core tenets of Scrum and starting an Agile Data Warehousing team, to practical sure-footed steps and examples in the use of User Stories and story estimation, to DW-specific development task decomposition and estimation, and through the dynamics of the agile-iterative process. The book then delivers great insights around scaling DW-Scrum teams, testing approaches, process improvement and CMMI compliance. It is very well-written, absolutely well worth the read and is a great TEAM reference book for launching Agile/Scrum Data Warehouse development programs/teams (as well as an excellent guide for improving existing Agile DW teams)... Nice job!
I bought this book intending to gain understanding of how you can adapt a relative expensive traditional data warehouse approach to the more money orientated CEO.Whilst the book doesn't contain everything it sets a very powerful view of the future and to put simply explains succintly how to win the hearts and minds of any senior level stakeholders.My only issue with the book is that it is full of typos. Words which simply don't make any sense and could have been picked out by a simple spell checker!A set of useful templates would have been nice but for the price paid I think its a bargain!
Mr. Hughes covers key aspects of making scrum/XP work for data warehousing and BI projects. Giving very practical clues as to how to break down requirements, architecture, identify components that can be built incrementally, tiered data models, scaling scrum projects, etc. If you want to have a chance at doing agile in the DW/BI world, you need to get this book. At $25, it is so rich in content and real-world, practical tools that it is a steal!

A standard intro to using a CNC woodcutting machine for 2D and 2.5D projects. However there is no information on doing actual 3D. Not recommended.
As the title states "Getting Started", if you are in fact doing that, this is a good point to begin your journey. If you are beyond that, don't buy a book titled "Getting Started" get upset and then give it a bad review. If you did that, go donate it to your local middle/high school and do something good with your time.It is a basic book to get one started in primarily using the X-Carve, Carvey or Shapeko home CNC routers. It is aimed at students and the terms are as to be expected on that level. However as someone who had little knowledge of the subject, this was a good primer.
Not at all what I expected, project links to YouTube.
Do NOT waste your money. This book only rehashes the examples given on the web page. It is not a “how to†book in the least.Warch the FREE youtube videos instead.
A good quick start into using a CNC router with a focus on the XCarve by Inventables.
I was disappointed with this book. I preordered it from a description that said it would talk about 3 D carving. All it covers is 2 D carving

This book is geared for middle school students. You have to read 15% of it before the author gets past essentially irrelevant content.Also, he didn't just thank a few people for making the book possible, but several pages were dedicated to this issue: Including to his parents for raising him as they did. I bought this book just a few days ago and the author lost me in an hour or so with such simplicity of content. His staff even told him not to write it in their review before he published it on Kindle. If you're an educator or a 7th or 8th grade student... then this book might be OK for you.

Have had this book at least a month now and still stuck on chapter 2. Something is just not right about the way they're trying to explain how to set this environment up. Exactly what data should be populated in the share targets and maybe even the file formats would help instead of broadly stating "When referring to packages that come in an ISO format, such as Windows server, you need to extract the contents of the ISO and copy those across, not the ISO itself." What about the other packages? Exactly what should be in those shares? Even if its old data in those folders, show us so we at least have an idea whether or not we're heading in the right direction. I shouldn't have to google everything. That's why I bought the book! Seems to be a piece of trash at this point since I'm having to google everything due to a lack of explanation and examples. If I somehow actually get past this chapter and get to proceed, I may change the review. At this point, though, it was a huge waste of money.

About the Author
Born in 1948, Zhu Liqun is a senior Master of Arts and Crafts, a member of the Shanghai Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art, a member of the Shanghai Arts and Crafts Association, and director of the Paper Art Professional Committee. Working in art and industrial design for over 30 years, he has won many awards at large art design contests in China. Zhu Liqun Paper Art Museum, formally launched in June 2010 in Shanghai, displays thousands of works of paper art including furniture, lamps, sculpture, decorative carvings in relief, and human figures. All were designed and created by Zhu Liqun and his team over a span of ten years. I waited a couple of months to get this book, but the wait was worth it. This book is full of lovely examples of quilling. There are notemplates, but there is a beginner's section which has simple examples. Detailed instructions are given for all the examples. I, at first, found that I was confused because no paper lengths were given. But I soon discovered that I could estimate the length of paper needed fairly easily. There is a very simple rabbit, a more complicated red horse, a crane to die for, and a wedding of rats which is so funny.If you love quilling and want to get beyond the roll a few coils, pinch them, and, presto, you have a flower, this is a very good book. It may seem intimidating at first, but do NOT dispair. I'm way past retirement age and my hands shake a little. This book has given me a new way of looking at quilling and I love it.
The photos in this book are beautiful. The book is eye candy; there are no snowflakes or silly dog faces or teddy bears. This is quilling as a mature art form; not something silly aimed at children.As soon as I looked at Amazon's "see inside" feature I was hooked on the imagery and wanted to try making some of these designs. I would not choose it as a first book for quilling if you're never tried the craft, but quilling is basically rolling strips of paper and gluing them shut and squeezing them into shape. If you can do basic shapes you should be able to follow the instructions and photos to recreate the art shown.I've had the book a little over a week now and I've made the dragonfly (6. Dragonfly Skimming the Water Surface). I didn't have enough of one color of paper to do the body and wings so I used multiple shades of red and silver, and I added some rhinestones to the eyes to give my insect a bit of pop. I haven't quilled in years so this was my first project in a very long time and it came out reasonably well.There are four chapters broken down into sections. Chapter 1 talks about the Chinese take on quilling, and Chapter 2 introduces the basics, including materials, tools, and ten basic techniques. Chapter 3 gets you started on easy projects, and Chapter 4 includes advanced lessons. There's also a short appendix of shapes at the back for easy reference.The sections include short descriptions of what the art represents. For instance, the section on the Carp talks about how the carp is an auspicious symbol and gives a little bit of background and history. The text is a little dry, but the information is interesting, and seeing how the artists draw on Chinese folk tales is giving me some ideas for drawing from other cultures as well.
I just got this book today and I love it. I have a collection of many books about paper quilling and this is my new favorite. It gives a modern spin to paper quilling with bright colors and bold designs. The book is beautiful with great photography! While it doesn't offer any patterns, it does instruct readers on how to make the different designs. It is a very inspiring book.
This book is a fascinating book and a valuable addition to any quilling book collection. The quilling technique used is pretty simple, mostly multi-stranded crescents (like the project on the book cover). It's the composition that makes this book amazing: birds, fish, flowers, landscapes, etc. with Chinese artistic style. The book has very nice photographs for each project and the projects are organized from beginner to advanced levels. Each project starts with an introduction of the project in Chinese cultural context which makes it interesting. The English translation reads a bit strange at times, but it is still interesting. Although there are ample instruction steps with color photos, this may not be a good book for anyone looking for precise patterns and measurements. This book will provide many ideas and inspirations.
Love, love, love this quilling book. Beautiful color photography and exquisite designs you can follow. Written in a very up-beat style that makes you want to get started on a project. Would have given it four stars but the instructions are a bit weak for a beginning quiller. If you have already mastered the basics of quilling you should find the instructions adequate.
I love this book. I read it from cover to cover and could not wait to begin the project in my head. It is truly inspirational and has the most beautiful art. This is well worth the cost. All of the pages are applicable to answer your questions, give you inspiration, and show you the true spirit of quilling. This is unlike other books where you bend one corner for your favorite page and end up with 5 favorite pages out of the entire book. Great job in conveying this art.
I wasn't sure what to expect. It is a hard bound book with a matching dust cover. Inside is a wonderful new world!! I've learned new methods & tricks in quilling. Anyone can apply everything in the book to their projects. You can easily follow the patterns & instructions given in the book. I can't wait to finish my current project so I can make a crane! I love it!!

My son has memorized this book, and recites it with great drama and depth of feeling. It is one of his all-time favorites, along with Too Many Frogs and Chicken Scratches. If I'm going to hear a book a thousand times, this is not a bad choice.
as a part there are books that you read because your kid likes them, this book is the complete oposite. i could read this book every day and still find it interesting and funny. My 3 year daughter loves it too. My husband bought it on his Kindel electronically first, but you could tell that the covers and back of the book had fun stuff that just didn't reall translate electronically, so we bought the actual book. Totally worth it!
I couldn't make the tiny text larger as instructed when I opened the book and couldn't figure out how to get the instruction back. Also our 2-year-old expects to make pictures bigger and smaller with his fingers which cannot be done in this book. I plan to return it as the ad said one could do. This is for the Kindle FIRE version. The pictures were great, but I would have liked to be able to make them and the tiny print larger.
My husband and I heard the author read this book on NPR yesterday. I was so delighted with it that I immediately ordered it for my granddaughters. I may just get a copy for myself. The story is amusing but also has some good lessons to impart -- the best kind of learning experience, in my opinion. The illustrations are as entertaining as the story is, and the chickens are both silly and sympathetic. I can't wait to read it to the girls! A perfect book to read aloud and share, talk about, together.
My son really enjoyed this book in print, so I could not resist when this book was offered for the Kindle at a discounted price for a limited time around Xmas. The sory is about a hen that lays an egg which contains an Enormous and very smart chicken. Through a variety of experiences this chicken sets all the other chickens straight when they rush to nonsense. I can see reading it multiple times and am glad to have it on the Kindle.
There are several characters in this book. If you read the story aloud using appropriate voices for each character - the book will reside in the annals of 'best storybook for children.' If you don't bring the characters to life - don't bother getting the book. This is a delightful book for children from toddler to first or second grade, and conveys a story that applies to daily life. Appropriately used, this could also be a great team building book for adults!
I love this book! It is soooo funny! It's in the top 3 on our bookshelf. The dialogue between the chickens is hysterical and my 3 year old thinks its so funny when they start guessing that he is something besides a chicken. I've read it with adults, elementary aged kids, preschool- everyone loves it! The pictures flow with the story line. Buy it now!
