This was okay, I didn't even use it though. I bought several study aids for the VTNE, and over anything else I would recommend this: Review Questions and Answers for Veterinary Technicians, 5th Edition by Heather Prendergast. I recommend this one over anything else because I actually recognized questions on the VTNE word for word from the Prendergast book.
I purchased the kindle edition for $2.99 and for the price, it's a fairly good book to use in conjunction with other VTNE review books. It starts with a chapter discussing the job of a Veterinary Technician and how to find a job as a VT which is a waste of paper for those of us that have attended accredited programs. The second chapter is a 200 question baseline test, for you to get an idea on what sections you need help with.The third section consists of 7 chapters broken down into sections on the test. Each chapter has an overview and a list of topics that you could be tested on, making it easy to streamline your studying. You're given about 10 specific practice questions, an answer key and then an explanation of each answer.The last portion of the book is 2 practice tests.While I wouldn't suggest using only this book to study for your exams (unless you've just graduated and/or are very comfortable with the information) I highly suggest purchasing the kindle edition. It's a good price for a few extra tests to practice on.
Excellent book to get ready to take the VTNE, recommend it for anyone who has been out of school awhile and is looking to take their test.
This book is not a bad study tool in conjunction with other books, however it isn't the greatest if it is your only resource. The questions were very different from the actual VTNE and there were several big mistakes. It also doesn't have accurate information about the test itself.
Although I wouldn't recommend this book as the sole source to study for the VTNE, I would recommend as a ADDITIONAL study tool. It definitely gives you a bigger pool of questions\quizes to utilize--some of them popped up on the VTNE & some of the are just put of left field. For the price it's worth it though. Oh, and I passed the test!
Helpful, but a lot of the material at the beginning of the book is a little ridiculous and unhelpful. If you are studying for the vtne you know what a vet tech does....
Excellent book to prepare yourself for the national exam. The questions connect with things that are taught in the classes. Get it early so you can be prepared when the time comes.

A very useful book for trans people who wish to work on their voice as part of their gender expression, but who do not have access to speech therapy or other voice coaching, which can be expensive.
Excellent aid to anyone looking to work on their voice. Simple exercises and very logical, easy to follow process.
Very useful in the process of learning to change your voice to match your gender. It's also, in my opinion, very hard to read, and rather rambling. It took almost half the book before any knowledge was imparted, just rambling for pages about why voice is important.
this is a great book for what you get out of it. I recommend for all to read. Word word
I received this book as a gift from my mother because she knows my frustration that I do not come across as male over the phone. I'm FTM and can only speak from a binary point of view. I haven't read the entire book yet but there are helpful drawings of proper posture and even anatomical diagrams. From what I can tell so far, this book shows great potential for helping all trans* people with passing. Sure, you may pass appearance-wise and socially, but the prosody of our speech could possibly "break our cover" and be devastating to those who live stealth. I'm glad I got this book.

The book started out allright. Then went downhill. Sarah doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the box. For a tough cop she gets too emotional, hysterical and weepy.Her relationship with Carla is very unprofessional. Plot is not too believable and certainly not suspenseful.There is gratuitous violence. Since the killer kills each of his victims the same way it is unecessary to repeat. I also dislike the vulgar language.Have read much better books

Interwoven with this are signs that Sara's past is still causing problems in the life she leads now, deadly messages and a hint from the officer who put her away her husband's killer that the Gang goes after the victim's family when when the leader is locked up!! I think DI Sara plans to stick around and does not want an end to her series! The plots, action,and characters we can all relate to improve in each book with intriguing hints of what is ahead! Her ex-husband's brother Donald is still acting strange, her new lover, Mark, is back after a chilling experience with the Gang, and with the ideas this author takes from the headlines and translates to sheer entertainment on paper for us all, I am very excited about the next to come!! A thrilling ride through criminal life, shown through the eyes of a criminal,an officer and the victim, as we are introduced to each one on a personal level, able to feel their wants and needs, feelings and fears, through the amazing abilities of author MA Comley. A 5 STAR book you will NOT be able to put down until you reach THE END!! I received an ARC from author Comley, who I thank for a spectacular story, and I give you my honest thoughts in this review urging You to read this fascinating story!!
The strangled body of an unidentified woman turns up in a hotel room and in this, the third Sara Ramsey-book, it is up to Sara and her team to get to the bottom of things. A bottom that includes two more bodies found around Hereford with the same modus operandi, but both with identification of the first victim.Not that Sara has much time to breathe in her personal life either. Her relationship with a new boyfriend, Mark, hits the skids. As readers may know from “No Right to Kill†and “Deadly Blowâ€, the first two Sara Ramsey-books, Sara’s husband was murdered and it still haunts her and in “The Dead Can’t Speakâ€. She can’t escape the murderer or her husband’s family.In “The Dead Can’t Speakâ€, we see the story unfold through the eyes of a victim, a cop and a criminal. This gives a rare insight into the inner workings of people’s minds and thoughts.That kind of insight is what makes “The Dead Can’t Speak†a very enjoyable read. From the descriptions of the murder scenes, to Sara’s inner torment and fears, the reader is connected to the story and characters – from beginning to end.As this is the third book in a series, I would suggest readers start with the other two first – not because they might need backstory or to catch up with events, but because those books are equally engaging and well-written. As always a pleasure to pick up and but a short while later, put down a book by Mel Comley.

Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.DI Ramsey and her team respond to the murder of an unidentified woman in a hotel room. She's been strangled ... and she has no identification, no purse, no keys. nothing.Two more women are found strangled in different places ... each one bearing identification of the woman before them who was also killed.What connects these women? When Sara starts questioning families of the victims, they find a lot of variability and shocking secrets.Sara needs to know not only the who, but the why, as well.... before more bodies are found.On a personal level, although things have been going really well with Sara's new boyfriend, Mark, she gets some startling news and immediately break up with him. His persistence and Sara's fear puts him in the cross hairs of some really nasty men.This is the 3rd outing for D I Sara Ramsey and although this reads easily as a stand-alone, I highly recommend starting at the very beginning. The characters are finely drawn and breathe life into the story. With this author, I always know what I'm going to get ... plenty of action and a terrific story premise which will leave me panting for more.
As things come to a head in Sara’s personal life, her working one doesn’t seem to be going much better either. You have to give credit where credit is due, as Sara is a woman with a lot on her plate and yet she shows a huge amount of strength even though there are signs of cracking.I love Sara and this series. It has all of the authors trademarks of being a fast paced and gripping read. Even though numerous books under her belt, she always manages to keep them feeling fresh and current and never fails to write about a crime that either shocks or horrifies me, sometimes even both! This is why I just keep coming back for more.The Dead Can’t Speak is another brilliant read in the DI Sara Ramsey crime series. The story will certainly send chills down your spine whilst having you on the edge of your seat. The pacing was great, picking up the closer to the end we get, of which was the topping on the cake, so to speak. Loved it.My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

This has the wonderful effect of weighting each entry equally, thereby devoting the same amount of space to Charles Revson, creator of the Revlon cosmetics empire and relative makeup newcomer François Nars, pioneering clothing designer Mariano Fortuny and contemporary favorite Tom Ford. Clearly, a good set of eyes edited this book. It's a tall order to choose just one image to define the many facets of a designer, model, or photographer. The choices made here are excellent and often surprising. The indomitable Coco Chanel demonstrates the ease of movement her designs afforded women by briskly swinging her arm out to one side, while Kate Moss is shown at the height of her waifdom, likely the mode in which she will best be remembered. Model Linda Evangelista is pictured with curly locks of hair. It's obvious, too, that the editors employed the haphazard juxtaposition created by the alphabetical organization. Facing entries, no matter how seemingly incongruous, are united by a visual theme, to spectacular effect. The ovals made by the either screaming or yawning mouths of Kurt Cobain and his infant daughter are mirrored in a 1937 Jean Cocteau illustration of an Elsa Schiaparelli design. A model in a 1930s outfit by John-Frederics faces a portrait of post-punk design queen Betsey Johnson, whose floral outfit echoes the flowery silhouette behind the model. A troika of Robert Lee Morris bracelets matches the arcs of a bombed-out London building in a 1941 Beaton photo of a Digby Morton design. The vibrant prints of Emilio Pucci and Lilly Pulitzer fall together naturally. This book has been an amazing reference for me. Not only does it speak about several different important icons, but it gives you a little bit of history on SEVERAL different designers and their stories in short. This book by no means is ALL inclusive, but for the everyday reader its sure to teach you a bit you didnt know. You may find yourself new designers you've never heard of , and learning facts about designers that you may not have already known about. This mini is quite a wonder and a great coffee table or office book. I leave it in my studio in the waiting area and people ALWAYS comment on how much they love it. GREAT buy on my end.... I'm so pleased !
Product was fine. But I gave it 4 stars because I was planning on using it as a coffee table book, but the color was more of a cream than white. Looked a bit worn out, wouldn't describe it as "excellent" as described by seller.
This is a flawless example of beautiful, mesmeric art. Not only does this book capture the ongoing development of fashion through the years, it presents the designers, photographers, makeup artists, and even fashion retailers who made these pieces come to life. Phaidon has always impressed me with the quality of their books, along with the meticulousness they put into choosing the perfect photos for their final product.
The book itself is fabulous. I love reading through it and all my guests love looking through the pictures when they're over. (I have it on my coffee table in my living room). However, I was a bit sad, and disappointed when the book arrived with the front and side cover paper ripped and some what stained. I did order this book used, because that was the only buying option available. But each description said the book was "good" or "acceptable". I guess, since I obviously haven't returned it that it is "acceptable" but I was looking forward to the book still being more presentable. I was also a little bummed that there was a price sticker stuck to the side of the book, right over the word "fashion" and since I obviously didn't want that to be exposed I was forced to as gently as possible, peal that sticker off which caused the paper to write a little.. Besides that.. I am happy with the book! But I would not buy this as a gift for someone.
I just love this book , its great for the beginner to advanced fashion lovers. I also as a designer have to say if you're a designer , stylist and blogger , this is a major must have.
The best coffee table decor item. This is so much better than the newer version!
This was a gift and it was perfect! Filled with glamorous images and all one expects from the title. Just right for the fashion addict!

Big book, very small font that was required reading for a graduate level project management course. A little dry, just a collection of articles and research papers. There is good information, but unless you are a scholar or really interested in being a PM guru it's probably not for you.
Not many books on this increasing important topic but this is the best one that I have found. It was actually used in a university class that I attended. Easy to read. Several country-level examples of cultural differences, authority delegation and other topics that are useful for a global team to understand when working with one another.

Reading this travelogue about a Silk Road journey in 1992 (after finishing his earlier one that followed the Yellow River in 1991) I have the feeling Bill Porter didn't enjoy this trip nearly as much. Beginning with a sojourn in Xian, Porter proceeds to travel and trash Lanzhou, Wuwei, Zhangye and Jiayuguan in short order. Dunhuang was OK, but Turpan, Urumqi and Yining didn't meet expectations. Yes, it was 30 years ago, and the trains were like cattle cars, the hotels like barns. It was easy enough to make a fake ID and cheat on China's foreigner entrance fees. But so what?Once Bill leaves Kashgar on the Karakorum highway, things improve significantly. Anecdotes about bus passengers, border officials, landscapes and landslides do not fail to amuse. Folk tales from the local tribes sometimes seem silly, but that is their nature. The descriptions of the scenery and towns in the Himalaya Mountains and the Indus River are breathtaking. The gloom that permeated the prior leg of the journey lifts, as do the spirits of our itinerant host and guide. He even notices that the Pakistani uniforms fit much better than their Chinese counterparts do.Porter's credibility is difficult to deny, speaking fluent Mandarin from his language study at Columbia U. and his years in a Taiwanese Buddhist monastery. He has a deep knowledge of Chinese history and culture due to his anthropology studies and extensive travel experiences. His descriptions of the shrines, temples, tombs and museums border between bored and cynical, but he hits the highlights adequately enough. Summary critiques of thousand year old religious artwork are artfully juxtaposed with evaluations of the temperature and quality of the local beer.I think this is a good book to read if you've already been here, or if you want to go. It is of course dated from 1992, but having seen many of these sights in 2014 not a lot has changed, except for the ease of train travel and quality of hotels. Of course it costs a bit more, but not much. The Gansu corridor, the northern Silk Road and upper Xinjiang remain as they always were, timeless and beautiful. I hoped to love this book more, like his enthusiastic descriptions of the northeast. The places here are well worth the time to see, and are better in person than as told in this tale.
