Not for beginners unless you know Spanish and English. I am planning a trip to Brazil with a couple of friends and I do not know any Portuguess. I do know Spanish and English. So I have been studying Portoguesse for about a week so far. I have been doing some kids videos as they speak slower and decided to give this book a try. First they recommend you read the chapter in Portuguese before looking at the English equivalent. As I did this I found that I understood most of what I was reading, but this seemed to be more because It resembles Spanish a lot. I then read the English component to verify that I was correct with what I read. Overall This book has helped me a lot, a week in and I am already grasping the language as well as being able to read Portuguese, but my only caution to others is that this may be greatly influenced by my comprehension of Spanish. My friends how only speak English are not finding the book easy to learn from. So the book in my opinion is excellent but it seems geared more for someone who has a intermediate grasps of Portuguese already.. It seems ok for a beginner if you have a strong grasp of Spanish going into it. But if you have some basics down (ability to speak but necessarily read Portuguese) This book is a great help. I do recommend this book, I highly recommend it if you already know Spanish.
The story was intriguing and kept me wanting to know what happened next. This kept me reading in Portuguese. I could see my fluency improve over the course of the book. I was very happy with this purchase.
You need to put in the work but its pays off in time I think - I am on 3rd reading but on trip to Brazil l could read almost anything

Nice book, no complaints
This is a great book for beginer learners of portugese. It isn't hard to read and the story is interesting.
